Update on Angelia Given–Kidney Transplant needed!

FHM Prayer Requests, Urgent Needs

We, (Angelia’s grandparents and her immediate family) all thank each and everyone of you for all your prayers for Angelia and your VERY generous gifts and cards that helped bring Angelia home from her long stay in the Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO where she almost died 3 times.  On May 30, 2019, Angelia was finally released from the Children’s Hospital.  Before leaving the hospital, a PD Dialysis port was surgically placed in her abdomen and she was started on nightly dialysis, all night, every night for over a year now.  This keeps her alive and allows her to function as normally as possible during the day.  As you can imagine, there are many limitations for her physically, since it is imperative that the port not get dirty in any way. (i.e. no swimming, no wading in streams or lakes, no baths–only showers with a massive amount of protective preparation, limited play activities due to lack of energy and possibility of catching the tubing on something, etc.)  According to the kidney specialists, it is not prudent to continue dialysis any longer than necessary.  She is now officially on the kidney transplant list, waiting for a transplant and the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) has kindly set up a website for her.  This website is specifically to get donations to help Angelia and her family with all the MANY, MANY costs of having a kidney transplant besides the donor kidney and surgical procedure, which their insurance should cover.  For example, they will be required to stay home 3 full months after Angelia is able to come home after the transplant surgery, which means no work for her dad and no income for the family of 7 for that time in addition to the minimum of 2 weeks in the Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.  COTA is a wonderful organization that gives 100% of all donations to the family’s needs for whom the donation came in.  To donate or read more of Angelia’s story, please go to her COTA website at https://cota.org/campaigns/COTAforAngeliasKidney/blog/our-story   If you would like to do a fundraiser for Angelia, please let us know what we can do to help you.  MOST of all, THANK YOU for your many PRAYERS for Angelia.  She is a precious little girl who loves Jesus with all her heart.
